Volunteer

CBAA Needs Your Help – To volunteer for a Committee or to become a Regional Representative, complete the form below.

Since its inception in 1976, the Cornell Black Alumni Association (CBAA) has been devoted to:

providing a communication network for African-American alumni;

-  providing opportunities for alumni to “give back” to the Cornell;

-  maintaining diversity in Cornell’s student body by assisting  University recruitment efforts;

-   supporting Black undergraduate students through donation of scholarships other resources; and

providing career networking opportunities.

Regional Representative

CBAA regions have been formed in areas that have significant numbers of alumni (100 or more) or in areas where a critical mass of alumni express a strong interest in holding activities that further CBAA’s mission.  CBAA Regions include New York, Massachusetts, Philadelphia/Southern NJ, Maryland/DC/Virginia, Northern California, Southern California, Greater Atlanta, Chicago, and Detroit.

As a Regional Representative, you are an important resource for CBAA and a pivotal part of volunteer, social and cultural activities in your area.  Each region needs assistance in planning 2-4 regional events per year.  This is a great networking opportunity for our alumni!  Regions also assist CBAA in raising money for the Africana Center and our endowed scholarships.

Other Cornell Volunteer Opportunities

Register for CASMP
Cornell's Alumni-Student Mentoring Program provides an opportunity for students and alumni to connect in positive one-on-one mentoring relationships. Through the program, alumni can enhance the quality of the undergraduate experience for those who come after them by interacting, exchanging ideas, and sharing their experiences and knowledge with future Cornellians. Alumni mentors give back to their alma mater by serving as role models and leaders as they help today's generation of students reach their goals.

Register for CAAAN
CAAAN is the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network, a group of nearly 6,900 alumni volunteers who assist the Cornell admissions community in recruiting superior undergraduate applicants. CAAAN members are involved in a variety of activities, the biggest of which is contacting local candidates who have submitted their application, to answer questions, provide a positive perspective on the University, and accumulate additional information about the applicant. Other activities often include helping staff college fairs, conducting book award programs, and hosting receptions.
